History & The Chain of Liberty
This course focuses on God's Providence in the affairs of nations, particularly upon the United States. Requirements: Students must show an in-depth understanding of the material presented. Detailed Chapter notes on the readings and lectures are required along with the production of a series of well-written works demonstrating the student's understanding of the course material. HIST 200 -
Fundamentals for Biblical Transformation This course from Rev. Steven McDowell shows how God's word not only brings transformation to the world but is intended to bring that transformation to the world in a comprehensive fashion. This will focus on practical aspects on how to fulfill the Cultural Mandate of Gen 1.28-29. Requirements: Student is to show a working knowledge of the material presented by taking careful lecture notes and submitting one final position paper at the end of the course timeframe. HIST 210 - The
Reformation’s Impact on Western Civilization
This course focuses on the impact of the Reformation on Western social and legal traditions. Texts include Douglas F. Kelly’s “The Emergence of Liberty in the Modern World,” David W. Hall’s “The Genevan Reformation and the American Founding,” Harold J. Berman’s “Law and Revolution II,” and many others. By the end of the course students should have a thorough understanding of the Reformation’s transformative effect on Western civilization. Requirements: Students must show an in-depth understanding of the material presented and produce a series of well-written works demonstrating their understanding of the course material. In addition, students will be assigned a final paper about a specific area that the Reformation has had a positive effect on Western civilization.
