MUS 101 - The Biblical Philosophy of Music

Utilizing a biblical principle approach to the subject, this course will explore the way we should define music and how the aesthetics of the art form have evolved throughout the ages.  While not a strict history course, the students will gain a basic knowledge of musical time periods and styles by the study of major works within the historical context in which they were composed.  Emphasis will be placed on how a “masterpiece” should be biblically defined and how music affects, and is affected by, the culture around the art.

This course is a pre-requisite to any music course offered at the New Geneva Academy.
